Check out the Faux Show at the Museum of Outdoor Arts from the comfort of your own home. Follow the link to see what Creative Leader Cory Gilstrap of Imagined Creations helped put together with a crew of interns from all over the Nation. I am pleased to have been called in to paint the rock, angry fungus and speared pickle.

Recently opened Ace, by master of design Melissa Friday of Xan Creative is located at 501 East 17th.  It is being called Steuben’s sassy sister, and melds Asian cuisine with Ping Pong in a nearly 95% recycled atmosphere.  I’ve included pictures of the paint treatments I was trusted with.

"Copper Mountain Guitar Town" Silent AirGuitar auction

ArtGuitar Silent Auction Features a Unique Collection of Guitars Crafted, Painted and Designed by Colorado Community Artists

Copper Mountain, CO…August 4, 2011…Presented by the Village at Copper, ArtGuitar gathers more than 20 artists from around Colorado and the community to create works of art from damaged and unusable guitars, kindly donated by the Guitar Center of Denver. These impressively creative guitars are up for bid, with the proceeds benefitting the Copper Environmental Foundation, an employee funded 501c3 non-profit organization that supports and directly funds environmental projects and programs in Colorado’s Summit and Lake Counties. Last year’s auction raised over $1000 and the event’s organizers hope to double proceeds this year by inviting more artists and introducing a new gallery viewing on Sunday, August 14.

Guitars are currently on display and are open for bidding in select Denver art galleries and the Guitar Center of Denver. They will also be on display during Guitar Town weekend throughout various retail locations in the Village at Copper. A final gallery viewing will take place 1 – 3:45 p.m. on Sunday, August 14 when bidding will end. Winners will be announced on the Guitar Town Main Stage at approximately 4 p.m. Admission to both the gallery viewing and concerts are free. An online bidding will also take place via Copper Mountain’s facebook page between Tuesday, August 9 and Wednesday, August 10.

This year’s collection of ArtGuitars has been created by more than 20 artists, recruited and coordinated by Denver’s own “Art Pimp,” Eric Matelski, ericmatelski.com. Matelski has gathered regional artists with diverse backgrounds and specialties from photography, sculpting, tattoo work, and interactive design, to name a few. These artists and their ability to incorporate their individual talents to the guitar medium has produced a truly compelling and unique collection of work.

In Russ Wright’s series on the Denver Art Scene, look for pianos painted by local artists. I have two that pop up at the 3 minute mark. A Brazilian themed blue upright and the Strawberry cream table top type.

Cory Gilstrap, lead designer at Imagined Creations, recently was hired to create fish heads for Ken Jones at the Art Department.  After two quick days of designs, patterning and fittings, Cory handed me the fishes to paint!  What a fun job!

Last week Cory created all the costumes for a modern dance performance and I helped by painting butterfly wings.  We are awaiting the professional photographs of these costumes, but here is a sneak peek at the birds next, which has operational baby birds!  I helped a wee bit with the nest…
